Château Petrus, the grand return to auction of Bordeaux wines
—
Baghera/wines will hold the fourth edition of its quarterly auction on April 28 in Geneva at 1 pm CEST.
Kipling #4 “Pleasures & Plenitude” will bring together a stunning selection of rare wines, including a series of Château Petrus bottles. Unusually, these Pomerols are presented in original six-bottle cases.
The online auction will be live-streamed from Club 1865 by Baghera/wines, at the Beau-Rivage Genève and will feature 148 lots meticulously selected by the Maison’s teams for their rarity, impeccable provenance and quality of conservation and storage.
An exceptional auction with a variety of rare finds
The inventory begins with an impressive suite of lots (47-62), from Château Petrus, covering 1996 to 2013 vintages: offered, in a rare occurrence, by six or 12 in their original wooden and/or cardboard cases. The bottles are all of a level deemed excellent by experts and their pleasing appearance testifies to their impeccable conservation over the years.
The jewel in the crown of the selection is a set of six bottles of Château Petrus from 2000, offered in their original case, freshly unsealed by Baghera/wines’ experts, and estimated at between CHF 24,000 and 48,000.
Among the other lots to watch out and bringing a touch of glamor are a wonderful offering of Champagne Selosse, Louis Roederer, Dom Pérignon and Krug with vintages starting from 1996, along with a number of magnums.
A rare set of six Domaine René Engel, Grands-Echézeaux 1995 magnums will be proposed to devotees of great Pinot Noirs at an estimated price of between CHF 32,000 and 64,000.
Founders of Baghera/wines and auctioneers for the event, Michael Ganne and Julie Carpentier, say: "For this spring auction in Geneva we are delighted to offer a selection of bottles from a handful of European cellars and collections. This is an exceptional auction in which all the lots have unique characteristics and a very exclusive selection of bottles that we would easily recommend to our closest friends. This is how we like to work – on the basis of friendship and loyalty. Whether the superb Petrus admirably offered in cases of six bottles, the bottles and magnums from the René Engel estate or the Vosne-Romanée treasures along with wines from the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Liger-Belair or Arnoux-Lachaux, we are offering a selection featuring the finest. Burgundy and Bordeaux coexist and are sure to delight our passionate customers.”
More than 555 bottles, magnums and large formats spread over 148 lots cover appellations highly coveted by connoisseurs of great terroirs.
Relying on the skills of its experts who are among the most experienced in the world, Baghera/wines is putting its name to a new quarterly spring auction, as always featuring provenance that is as unique as it is exceptional in terms of quality, conservation and storage conditions.
