The second article aiming at describing this beautiful single-owner Clos Rougeard collection introduces two Saumur-Champigny—“Les Poyeux” and “Le Clos”.
“Les Poyeux” offers the perfect match between elegance and finesse. The Cabernet Franc grows on a soil lighter that the one from Le Bourg parcel. Made of sand and limestone, the soil gives the wines a satin structure and fine aromatic structure. The fruity notes are paired with tension and fantastic persistence.
On the other hand, the Saumur-Champigny “Le Clos” can be described as the pure expression of Clos Rougeard terroirs. Elegant and precise, this wine is an assembly of different parcels. The olds vines are all growing on sandy, limestone soils and ensure an optimal concentration and balance between minerality and finesse.
